Arrival and Pick Up of Children

Children that don’t require ABC’s transportation should be accompanied to day care and signed in and out at the office by the parent or individual responsible. For safety concerns, children will only be released to those individuals authorized to pick up the child.

We do everything possible to assure your child’s safety. All buses are equipped with radio transmitters and are in constant communication with the main office. If your child will be using ABC bus service, car seats are required only for toddlers, which we will provide. Our buses are equipped with the seat belts.

Clothing

We recommend comfortable, casual clothes and preferably sneakers.

An extra two sets of clothes, including socks and underwear are requested. The clothing will be kept in your child’s cubbies.

Diapers

Non-potty trained children will need diapers. Parents are responsible for sending a supply of diapers and wipes and replenishing the supply as needed.

Naptime

ABC provides cots. Standard fitted white cotton sheets with elastic loops are required and can be purchased at the office.

Sheets will be sent home on Fridays to be washed and must be returned back on Monday. Children may bring a light blanket to make them more comfortable.

Meals

Hot nutritious meals are served at ABC at least three times per day: 9:00 a.m. – breakfast, 12:00 p.m. – lunch, 3:00 p.m. – snack. If your child is on a special diet or has any food allergies we will comply with special needs.

Sick Policy

All Medical Forms and Personality Reports must be completed and returned to ABC Preschool as soon as possible. Your child will not be able to attend school without an updated medical form on file.

No child who is noticeably ill with a fever or rash will be admitted for that day. Symptoms that would exclude a child from care include fever if accompanied by other symptoms, diarrhea, vomiting, a draining rash, pinkeye or noticeable discharge for eyes, or lice. Should a child become ill during the day, you will be notified immediately. The child will be isolated in a comfortable supervised environment. If a child should contract a communicable disease and exposes the other children, all of the other parents will be notified. The ill child will not be able to return without a doctor’s note. As per NYS Law, the Staff at ABC is not allowed to administer any medications internally. We have a person on premises who is trained in First Aid and Emergency Response Care. In case of minor accidents or injury, first aid will be administered.

Communication

You can always call the Office to find out how your child is doing. If you wish to speak to the teacher, you can leave a message and the teacher will return your call at his/her earliest convenience.

Periodically, the teacher will send out daily/weekly report slips letting you know what your child did in school. Individual parent-teacher conferences are conducted twice a year or upon request.
