ABC Preschool and Kindergarten’s philosophy revolves around how we value our students energy, minds, and creativity which grows every day, making our commitment to their playing needs as well as their educational needs a priority. We have a wide range of academic and physical education with structured activities as well as those which allow our little ones hands on opportunities during their precious first formal school experience. Our creative curriculum allows teachers to introduce and expand on language arts, math and numbers, shapes and colors, phonics, social studies, science, fun food lessons, monthly themes, physical education, music, and various holidays. Our students get to utilize their energy in multiple creative classes like music, gymnastics, and zumba. We offer a hands-on approach and individualization of each and every child. Social and emotional development start during these years, and while learning, everyone grows into their own and becomes prepared for their elementary school years.
Toddler (2-3 years old)
ABC is the start of the alphabet and of education. The toddler curriculum allows for children to become more socially aware, develop emotionally, and start them on their educational journey. Their future relies on these crucial years of baby steps, learning self control, feelings, cooperation, motor development and interacting with adults and other children. Through curiosity and interest, our children in the nursery program take part in a toddler’s gymnastic class, zumba class, our physical education SPARK’s program, as well as a music program engaging them in singing, dancing and playing instruments. The educational curriculum includes monthly themes like ‘Let’s Pretend’, ‘Caring and Sharing’ and ‘School Safety’, along with the introduction and recognizing of letters in language arts, numbers in math, colors, shapes and age appropriate science lessons, the promotion of safety, nutrition, health and physical education, and the introduction to popular holidays.
Nursery (3-4 years old)
Our nursery program provides children with a more advanced look at what they have learned in the toddler class. Fine and gross motor skills are developed more by our preschool SPARKS program, zumba class, 60 minutes of physical education per day including a preschool gymnastics program and outdoor recreational structured activities, learning how to hold a pencil, trace letters, numbers, shapes, and even their name, and start cutting and pasting arts and crafts projects. The educational curriculum also includes popular themes, guided reading, age appropriate science lessons, and the learning of holidays throughout the year. The promotion of safety, nutrition and health are instilled thoroughly during their preschool year. Our preschool classes also get to participate in our music program which includes 2 music show performances of singing, dancing, and poetry; one at the end of the year for the holidays, and one in the spring for Mother’s Day.
Pre-Kindergarten (4-5 years old)
Our Pre-Kindergarten’s elevated curriculum and subjects allows for an active growth of children’s minds and an academic head start with preparation and enrichment for the Department of Education’s Gifted and Talented Programs. The structured routine of circle time, learning centers, computers, gym, zumba class, and outside play help children focus on their creativity, curiosity, and new knowledge every day. They participate in group readings to help develop phonetic awareness, our special Alphachant program for language arts, advanced gross and fine motor skills through 60 minutes a day of physical education including our SPARK’s program, learning to write first and last names and other important words, and fun food lessons to engage their interest in healthy, nutritional food choices. Pre-Kindergarteners enjoy their music classes throughout the week in preparation for their 2 music shows with singing, dancing, and poetry; one at the end of the year for the holidays, and one in the spring for Mother’s Day.
Kindergarten (5-6 years old)
Our diverse and age appropriate subjects in Kindergarten allows for children to move to elementary school socially and mentally prepared with the skills they will need to be successful. The creative curriculum is planned around the idea that through hands on learning, children can accomplish anything. A focus of language arts, writing, self concept, author studies and the world, bring the children together as a group with a wide range of subjects to learn. Children feel comfortable in the classroom now that they have explored socially over the years. With reading nooks, fascinating books, pretend play areas, dress up stations and organized learning centers, they feel right at home to listen and gain new knowledge. They continue to discover what they have previously been taught in their earlier years but this time, more in depth, learning about larger numbers, sight words, upper and lower case letters, writing full sentences, completing workbooks, and homework nightly for reinforcement. Our Kindergarten curriculum prepares children not only for the first grade, but also for any Gifted and Talented Programs you may wish to enroll your child. They participate in zumba class, gymnastics, outdoor play, and a music show with close direction from our music teacher for the holidays at the end of the year and also a graduation ceremony in June.
